Future Referees
What is required to become a referee?
To become a referee one must first be physically and mentally fit. Of course, one must also have the spare time to do the games. If you meet these minimum requirements then you are ready to take the entry level (Class 4) course. This course involves 12 hours of practical demonstrations and classroom training. The age requirement is 13.
When is the course run?
The course is usually offered in early spring, spread over a weekend or a number of weekends. Times and dates for these courses will be posted on this website when they are announced. There is no test or exam, but you will be evaluated in overall participation and involvement in the classroom and practical demonstrations.
Is there an age requirement to take the course?
To be eligible to take the course, you must be at least 13 years old on January 1 in the year you wish to take the course. There is no maximum age limit.
What games will I be able to referee after taking this course?
Class 4 referees are only licenced to referee house league (non-competitive) soccer.
